The unit is intended to measure and quantify the
discharge performance of re-chargeable cells commonly used
in modelling applications. This includes Nicads, Nickel
metal hydride and Lithium packs in either Lipoly or
Lithium-Ion formats. Although originally intended for
electric flight modellers, it is equally applicable to boat
and car enthusiasts, particularly if they are involved in
competitions.
The aim is to measure the critical parameters of any battery
pack’s discharge performance and display the results in a
form which is immediately useful to the modeller. The three
results it displays, at the current level chosen by the
user, are all directly related to the battery’s ability to
deliver energy to the load. The performances of various
battery packs of different voltages, cell counts, capacities
and chemistries can all be compared objectively under
controlled conditions, with an instant readout. The results
quantify the battery's performance and condition and are
critical to competition modellers.
The unit does not measure battery capacity, this function
being widely available in many Charger/Dischargers.
